Bulletproof Lift Assist

Reduce the “built-in” weight of your equipment — and make adjustments, setup changes, and starting resistance feel dramatically easier. The Bulletproof Lift Assist uses an internal coil spring tension system to provide adjustable counterbalance assist that can be tuned for different products and preferences.

Internal Coil Spring Tension
Inside the unit is a coil spring tension system that creates adjustable lift assist for easier movement and a lighter starting feel.
Easier Adjustments
Reduce strain when moving carriages or components up and down for setup changes.
Cleaner Starting Feel
Make the system feel like it starts at “zero” — so you only feel weight when you add plates.
One Upgrade, Multiple Products
Designed to counterbalance multiple Bulletproof systems — VTS, Isolator, VBS, and more.
Mid-Grade (On Purpose)
Bulletproof Lift Assist units are built around a mid-grade internal coil spring tension system — meaning they’re a more cost-effective way to add counterbalance while still working really well for the applications we’re using them for.
Most exciting: buy a pair of the 9–15kg or 15-22kg Bulletproof Lift Assist units and you can counterweight your VTS — with an adjustable “weightless” feel.

Multiple ranges available to match different setups and goals.

What Bulletproof Lift Assist Does

Counterbalances Built-In Weight

Many systems have an “empty” starting weight from the trolley, carriage, or hardware. Bulletproof Lift Assist uses its internal coil spring tension system to offset that built-in weight so the system feels lighter to move and easier to start.

Adjustable Weight Range

These units have adjustable ranges, so you can tune the amount of assist to match your exact setup — and even adjust it depending on accessories installed.

Makes Setup Changes Easier

If you regularly reposition components (carriages, trolleys, attachments), counterbalance reduces the effort and makes quick changes feel smooth.

“Weightless Until Loaded” Feel

When tuned correctly, you can make parts of the system feel effectively weightless — then the only weight you feel is what you intentionally add.

Practical upgrade. You’ll feel the benefit every time you adjust the equipment or start a set.

Works With Multiple Products

  • VTS — pair the 9–15kg or 15-22kg Lift Assist units to counterweight the trolley system and tune the start feel
  • Bulletproof Isolator — make carriage height changes much easier, especially with attachments installed
  • VBS — reduce the effective start weight (83 lbs) to make the system feel closer to “zero” unloaded

Note: exact offset depends on setup and configuration. The adjustable range lets you dial it in.

VTS Counterweight Upgrade (Most Exciting)

Pair the 9–15kg or 15-22kg Bulletproof Lift Assist Units

If you buy a pair of the 9–15kg or 15-22kg Bulletproof Lift Assist units, you can counterweight your VTS and adjust the feel based on how you have it configured.

Option 1
Make the trolleys feel weightless
Tune the assist so the trolley movement feels like “zero” without plates.
Option 2
Weightless with a handle + horns
Adjust the range so the trolleys + a single handle + weight horns can feel weightless too.
The result: it can feel like there’s no weight until you add plates to the horn.

Because Bulletproof Lift Assist is adjustable, you can fine-tune the “empty” feel depending on your setup.

Example Setup Options

Here are two example ways to run Bulletproof Lift Assist on the VTS. In. these examples we are using two (2) of the 9-15kg Lift Assist units. This example with the unit being used to counterweight the trolleys, weight horns and ISO handles, the Lift Assist is on the max 15kg setting, so it is recommended to use the 15-22kg units if you want to counterweight the trolleys, weight horns and handles so you have extra tension in the unit to balance different handles.

Option A • Direct Hang Setup
Bulletproof Lift Assist installed on VTS using a pin through the crossmember and clipped to the back of the VTS

In this setup, the Lift Assist is installed with a pin through the crossmember, allowing the unit to hang down and clip to the back of the VTS.

This will limit range and will not allow the VTS to go all the way up due to the Lift Assist hanging down. That said, it is still a very cool setup and works great for many exercises.

Option B • Single Side Pulley Setup
Bulletproof Lift Assist installed on VTS using a pin through the crossmember routed through a Single Side Pulley

In this setup, the Lift Assist is installed with a pin through the crossmember, then routed through the Single Side Pulley and down to the side of the VTS.

This has a much cleaner look and feel and also allows higher range while still allowing the VTS to go all the way down.

This example is shown on a 92" rack.

Note: this setup has the Lift Assist resting on the upright and could possibly scratch the upright.

If you want more range toward the top of the rack, the Single Side Pulley setup is the better option.

Isolator: Easier Carriage Height Changes

The Problem

The Isolator carriage is 45 lbs by itself. For some users, moving it up and down between exercises can be a struggle — and it gets even heavier once you add accessories.

The Fix

Pair one Bulletproof Lift Assist with the Isolator to counterbalance the carriage weight. That means smoother, easier adjustments — especially when you’ve got lever arms, weight arms, seats, or other attachments installed.

Less effort. Faster changes. More usable day-to-day.

Example Setup Options

Here are two example ways to run Bulletproof Lift Assist on the Isolator depending on how much weight you want to balance.

Option A • Tri-Post Rack + Single Side Pulley
9 to 15kg Bulletproof Lift Assist on rear upright of Tri-Post Rack using Single Side Pulley anchored to Isolator carriage handle

This shows the 9–15kg Bulletproof Lift Assist on the rear upright of the Tri-Post Rack, hanging off the Single Side Pulley and anchored to the handle of the Isolator carriage.

This setup is great for balancing the weight of the carriage alone.

Note: the Lift Assist is yellow in this image, but final production units will be black.

Option B • Solo Stand + Double Side Pulley
40 to 50 kilogram Bulletproof Lift Assist on Solo Stand using Double Side Pulley Center Attached anchored to Isolator carriage handle

This shows the 40–50kg Bulletproof Lift Assist on the Solo Stand, connected to the bottom of the Solo Stand eye loop, running up and through the Double Side Pulley Center Attached, and down anchored to the handle of the Isolator carriage.

This setup is great for balancing the Isolator carriage plus accessories such as the weight arm, seat, and kickstand.

Lighter setup for carriage-only balancing. Heavier setup for carriage + accessory balancing.

VBS: Reduce the 83 lb Start Weight

The VBS has an 83 lb start weight. Pairing one Bulletproof Lift Assist can help offset that starting weight so the system feels much lighter unloaded — essentially helping “remove” that built-in start weight.

Cleaner start. Easier usability. Same platform — just a lighter “empty” feel.

Adjustability lets you tune how much of the starting weight you want to offset.

Example Setup Option

Here is an example of Bulletproof Lift Assist being used to reduce the starting weight of the VBS.

9–15kg Lift Assist on VBS
9 to 15 kilogram Bulletproof Lift Assist installed on VBS to reduce starting weight

This shows the 9–15kg Bulletproof Lift Assist installed on the VBS to help reduce the starting weight by approximately 30 lbs.

This is a great option for users who want the VBS to feel lighter at the start and easier to use unloaded.

Simple setup. Meaningful reduction in starting weight.

FAQ

What is Bulletproof Lift Assist?

Bulletproof Lift Assist is an adjustable counterbalance accessory that uses an internal coil spring tension system to reduce built-in system weight and make equipment easier to start and easier to adjust.

Are they adjustable?

Yes — they have adjustable weight ranges, so you can tune the counterbalance to your setup and preference.

Which one do I need for VTS?

The most exciting VTS setup is a pair of the 9–15kg or 15-22kg units so you can dial in a “weightless” feel. If you plan to balance the trolleys alone, the 9-15kg works well. If you plan to balance the trolleys, weight horns, and different handles the 15-22kg is best so you have additional tension in the unit for differnet weight handles!

Why mention mid-grade?

Because that’s part of the value: Bulletproof Lift Assist uses a mid-grade coil spring tension system that keeps the product more cost-effective while still working great in these real-world applications.

The Bottom Line

Bulletproof Lift Assist makes Bulletproof systems easier to live with: lighter starts, easier adjustments, and a more dialed-in feel — with one accessory that can counterbalance multiple products.

It also uses a mid-grade internal coil spring tension system on purpose — a cost-effective counterbalance solution that still works great in real-world use.
