CHOOSING BETWEEN THE VTS AND VTS LITE
At Bulletproof Fitness Equipment, we know that finding the right equipment is key to optimizing your workout experience. Our Versa Trolley System (VTS) and VTS Lite are designed for different levels of versatility, strength, and movement capabilities. Here’s a breakdown to help you choose the best option for your needs:
VTS (Versa Trolley System)
- Smooth and Iso-Lateral Movements: The VTS is equipped with dual UHMW rollers on all four sides of the upright, allowing it to handle any load or force configuration smoothly, even with single-handle press and pull movements. This makes it perfect for those needing smooth trolley movement under real loads or opposing forces.
- Heavy-Duty: At 24 lbs per side, the VTS adds weight to your setup, which can be a consideration for exercises requiring lighter starting weights (e.g., drag curls, isolation movements). However, this extra weight also adds stability and strength to your setup.
- Fully Adjustable: The VTS has horizontal set screws on all rollers, allowing you to adjust the unit to fit your rack perfectly snug, minimizing any play during your exercises.
- Safety Features: It comes with bump stops on all sides, which can act as safety stops from front to back or side to side.
- Best For: Users who want ultimate versatility for iso-lateral movements and those needing smooth trolley motion under load. If you’re performing a wide variety of movements with different load configurations, the VTS is the best choice.
VTS Lite
- Simplified Design: The VTS Lite features dual hourglass UHMW rollers on the front and back, making it ideal for Smith machine movements and setups like a high-low cable functional trainer. It provides assistance with the trolley’s movement but may have limitations under heavy or opposing loads.
- Lighter Weight: Weighing only 15 lbs per side, the VTS Lite is a lighter alternative for those who may find the combined weight of a 45 lb barbell plus 48 lbs of VTS weight too heavy for some exercises.
- Cost-Effective: The VTS Lite is more affordable and perfect for users who don’t require the advanced functionality of the full VTS.
- Track and Adjust: Although it has horizontal set screws for adjustments, the hourglass-shaped rollers provide less control than the VTS’s all-sided rollers, which could lead to slightly less smooth movement, especially if your rack’s size doesn’t perfectly match the rollers.
- Safety Consideration: The Lite version has bump stops only on the sides, which may limit safety features for racks that don’t have hitch pin holes on the sides.
- Best For: Users who primarily use their system for Smith machine movements or other standard exercises. It’s ideal for those who want a lighter, more affordable unit and are okay with a slightly reduced range of capabilities.
- Choose the VTS if you want maximum versatility, smooth iso-lateral movements, and don’t mind the added weight for more stability and control.
- Choose the VTS Lite if you’re looking for a lighter, more cost-effective solution primarily for Smith machine and basic functional movements.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT HOOK FOR YOUR VTS SYSTEM
At Bulletproof Fitness Equipment, we know that every athlete and lifter is unique. That's why our Versa Trolley System (VTS) comes with two different hook options, each designed to fit your specific needs:
1. Front Hole Hook:
This hook design fits into the hitch pin holes at the front of your upright, offering multiple latching points along the rack. Most of our customers prefer this option because of its versatility. The numerous latching spots make it easy to adjust for different exercises and allow for a more customized setup. If you're looking for maximum flexibility, this hook is your best choice.
2. Hitch Pin Hook:
For those with any muscle imbalances or injuries (upper body injury examples-shoulder, pec, elbow/lower body examples-lower back, hip, knee, ankle) or who may struggle with keeping the bar perfectly level during a press or pull, the hitch pin hook can provide additional support. This hook latches onto the hitch pin inserted horizontally through your upright. When your bar isn't perfectly level, the hook tip can miss the front hole, which can be a challenge, particularly with 5/8" holes. The hitch pin hook solves this problem by providing a secure catch even if the bar tracks off-level. While 1" holes offer more tolerance, if you're dealing with significant imbalances, the hitch pin hook may be the better option for you.
Which Hook is Best for You?
- If you're looking for versatility and more latching options, the Front Hole Hook is your go-to.
- If you experience muscle imbalances or injuries and want a setup that helps compensate for uneven bar movement, the Hitch Pin Hook may be your best bet, especially if your uprights have smaller 5/8" holes.
Both hooks offer unique benefits, so choose the one that aligns with your lifting style and needs!

VTS (VERSA TROLLEY SYSTEM)
The VTS may look like a simple trolley that turns your rack into a smith machine but see the features below to see why it is SO MUCH MORE!
Hex Ports
The VTS’s ability to turn your rack into a smith machine or single-handle smith machine is already cool enough, but pairing it with our hex ports makes it so much more! Our hex ports are our proprietary attachment method, allowing us to expand on the VTS with many other attachments while also future-proofing it as we add more and more to the unit’s ecosystem. Another huge benefit of the hex ports and the BP system is that many of the attachments you’d put in the hex ports will also work with many of our other units, saving you money, adding tons of value, and minimizing storage space needed for a wide range of machine movements!
REMOVABLE SIDE WEIGHT HORN
On the other side of the unit, the side weight horn quickly and easily screws on or off your VTS and pairs with our single handles as well as many of our other attachments.
Front latch pin
When you insert the barbell latch front pin, it adds rigidity to the barbell latch by building a bridge between the front of both parts of the latch, while also working as a hook stop to prevent you from over-rotating the hooks during use. Just like a normal smith machine, once you spin the latch to release the unit for use, the pin will catch it as a safety feature, making it so you’re only a flip of the wrist away from re-racking the VTS to your upright!
WIDE BARBELL LATCH DESIGN
A wide barbell latch was designed to give maximum contact area to apply pressure from the VTS to your barbell, which in turn eliminates uneven barbell paths during lifts.
QUADRILATERAL ROLLER SYSTEM
The VTS is the first rack trolley unit to have rollers on all four sides (quadrilateral), where all others work with rollers on only two sides. The quadrilateral roller system of the VTS allows our unilateral single-handle function and much more as other attachments drop! Having two of our proprietary UHMW rollers on each side of your rack upright allows any combination of load and force to work and track smoothly up and down with no binding.
ROLLER DENSITY
We did extensive testing with a durometer and a lot of trial and error to land on our proprietary rollers! These UHMW rollers are the perfect density and compound to provide smooth trolley movement under even heavy loads while also not marking up your rack.
ROLLER BEARINGS
Each of our UHMW rollers has high-grade bearings on each side to give the smoothest tracking possible.
ROLLER ADJUSTABILITY
Our rollers each have horizontal set screws to not only fit to the upright, but to fit to the upright perfectly. This allows for the perfect adjustment to fit your rack.
barbell smith hooks
Our hooks are made of hardened iron for maximum strength! The hooks also have laser cuts to make them look cool as a cat in pajamas, paired with rubber strips to protect your barbell and add much-needed grip.
Threaded Upper Tab for Cable Pull Pin
You may wonder what this weird threaded hole is for on this tab, so we’ll go ahead and tell you—it’s for our cable lever pull pin system dropping soon! This will allow you to attach a brake lever-type handle on any attachment, and with the pull of that lever through an attached cable into a pin screwed into that tab, you can now latch or unlatch your VTS from the upright. Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Does the VTS work on racks with functional trainers on them?
Many of you have said while you know it’s not our job to find if our stuff will work on other stuff, it would be appreciated so we went to work to try and help! Many have asked about mainly the Rep rack setups and we’ve got love for them and you guys so happy to see if or how to make our stuff work together!
We did some research and based on what we found on the Rep setups this is what it’s looking like!
This picture shows the VTS. If our unit is mounted with barbell latch facing back and above the functional trolley it clears!
This is with info we found for Rep setups and can’t promise anything but again just us trying to help how we can. We do show dimensions above to confirm this yourself but hope this helps!
